Meet us at Oregon City Pride!

Sep 6, 12:00 – 5:00 at Clackamas Community College

Several people gather holding a banner with a rainbow background that reads Beavercreek United Church of Christ Honoring Diversity

Now known as Beavercreek United Church of Christ (aka Ten O’Clock Church) the founding church incorporated in1882. Yep, we’ve been part of the community for 143 years! And boy, have we seen changes.

One of the major ones came in 1999 when we voted to become Open and Affirming (OnA): Committed to justice for all people. OnA, is an official designation in the UCC for churches that deliberately have chosen to commit to welcome, affirm, and advocate for the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer persons. We welcome our LGBT family and know that we are all utterly beloved by God.

“As we prepare for the Pride Festival on September 6, 2025, at our beloved Clackamas Community College, we want to invite you to be a part of something truly special. This festival isn’t just an event; it’s a powerful statement that love conquers all and that there is no room for hate in our vibrant community.” *

Celebrate the 🌎 Earth on Saturday, May 18!

🌮 Tacos! 🔢 Bingo! 👯Costumes!

Our Earth Fest 2024 planning team is working hard to bring our third annual Earth Event for Beavercreek UCC. As an Earthwise congregation, we feel the need to do our part to raise awareness and take ecologically sound action for the Earth.

We are putting out the welcome mat for the entire greater Beavercreek area and offering a fun-filled night of Earth friendly education, taco dinner and 2 Bingo cards for a free will offering, (earth friendly prizes!), Earth Trivia and a costume contest. Come dressed as your favorite Earth Hero or Earth Villain (see costume suggestion section*).  Prizes for best adult and best child costume.

We are again partnering with Clackamas Soil & Water Conservation District, which brings a wealth of information about Earthwise practices. Our own Master Recycler, Lee Evans, will have a display on how you can recycle so much! We’ll also have a BUCC information table about our Earthwise efforts, the food pantry and Backpack Buddies programs.

Dinner will be tacos, with pork donated by Mulino based Campfire Farms, as well as vegan options. Deliciously prepared, sustainably and ethically sourced and produced. Read more about Campfire Farms and their Animal Welfare Approved program.

We have several different groups and activities already committed to having a presence at the event and are working on others. Special hands-on “earthly” activities for the kids are being planned.

Keep track of this event here and on Facebook.com/BeavercreekUCC.

COSTUME CONTEST!

This year we have added even more fun to BUCC Earth Fest. Come dressed as your favorite Earth Hero or Earth Villain!

There will be a prize for best adult and best kid’s costumes and so much to enjoy.
Putting on a costume can be very empowering and a chance to express your concern/love for our planet earth.

Costumes don’t have to be extravagant or full body, just earth themed. Use your
imagination (or Google it!). Here are some hero and villain suggestions, if you’re
stumped.

Heros: Trees, pollinators (bees, birds, bats, etc), any native animal, native plants, fungi, organic gardening, native insects, compost, recyclers, regenerative agriculture, bio-diversity, solar/wind energy, habitat restoration, sacred ground, etc.

Villains: Plastic, pollution: air, water, land, radioactive, noise, light and thermal, neonicotinoids, deforestation, herbicides and super weeds, invasive exotic species (plants and/or animals), monocultures, agricultural runoff, loss of biodiversity, greenhouse gases (CO₂, methane, nitrous oxide), fast fashion, forever chemicals (PFAS*), etc.
